MG Product
Machine-glazed tobacco base — one face glazed to a high finish against the dryer, for print quality on the side that shows.
What it is.
Machine glazing produces an asymmetric sheet: one face is pressed against a highly polished dryer cylinder and comes off glossy and closed, while the other stays open and matt. For tobacco work that asymmetry is useful — the glazed face takes the print, the reverse takes adhesive.
Compared with a machine-finished grade, MG gives a better printed result on the visible face without needing a coating, which keeps the sheet thin and keeps the converting behaviour simple.
Both single-glazed and double-sided finishes are produced. Which suits you depends on whether the reverse face has to take glue or has to be printed too.
