Grey Board

Solid uncoated board made from recycled fibre, specified by ply bond and caliper rather than by surface — the stiff core inside rigid boxes, book covers and binders.

What it is.

Grey board is bought on stiffness and on how well the plies hold together, not on appearance. Both faces are grey; the board is the structure, and whatever the box has to look like is wrapped or laminated over it afterwards. That is why the specification that matters is caliper at a given grammage, and ply bond — the force needed to split the board apart between layers.

Mills run it in tiers. A standard double-sided grey board carries a ply bond around 100 J/m²; a deluxe grade runs higher; a pure-pulp grade higher again. The tier you need is set by what happens downstream — a board that is going to be laminated and then creased and folded is under far more stress than one that is simply cut and cased in.

Supplied in sheets or reels. Sheet sizes go up to roughly 1400 × 1280 mm, and cut-to-size work down to 150 × 150 mm, with cutting tolerances in the ±1 to ±2 mm range.

Grammage & caliper

Same weight. Different thickness.

Board is bought on stiffness, and stiffness comes from thickness — so the same grammage in a different tier is not the same board. Pick a weight.

Can Victory Far East supply Grey Board?

Yes. Grey Board is supplied from mills across the Far East — China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and Vietnam — with inspection before shipment and export documentation prepared to the destination market.

What is the minimum order for Grey Board?

Most grades ship from single-container quantities. The exact minimum depends on the mill and the run — tell us the specification and we will confirm it with the quotation.

How do I get a Grey Board quotation?

Send the specification, the quantity and the discharge port. You will get a quotation from someone who knows the mill, usually within one working day.
