Core Board

High-density laminated board wound into tubes and cores — specified by crush resistance, not by appearance.

What it is.

Core board does one job: it is spiral-wound and glued into a tube that has to carry the weight of a reel without collapsing, and hold its bore diameter while the reel is run off at speed. So the properties that matter are density, ply bond and moisture stability — a core that has taken up moisture goes soft and the reel starts to wander.

It is bought by tube converters against the finished core specification: bore, wall thickness and the crush rating the reel needs. Those work back to a board grammage and a number of plies. Tell us the finished core, not the board, and we will work back to what the mill has to run.
