What it is.
Kitchen towel is used wet. That single fact separates it from the rest of the tissue family: it has to pick up a spill, be pushed across a surface, and be lifted again without shredding. Wet strength is therefore engineered in rather than balanced away, which is the opposite of the requirement on toilet tissue.
Absorbency capacity and absorption rate are specified alongside it — how much the sheet holds, and how quickly it takes it up. Embossing does real work here rather than being decorative: the pattern creates the void volume that holds liquid.
