Fluorinated Greaseproof Paper
Greaseproof paper with fluorochemical sizing — the high-Kit option for hot, oily food that has to sit in the wrap.
What it is.
Greaseproof is not a coating in the way people assume. The barrier comes from how the pulp is refined and sized, which is why the sheet stays a sheet: it folds, it takes a print, it does not delaminate. Fluorochemical sizing pushes the oil resistance to the top of the range.
The number that matters is the Kit rating. Kit runs 1 to 12 and it is a fast, reproducible test for how aggressive an oil the sheet will hold off. Fluorinated greaseproof is produced at Kit ≥ 6 — which is the range fried chicken, fries and hot oily food need, especially when the food is going to sit in the wrap for a delivery ride rather than be eaten at the counter.
Grammages run 30 to 50 g/m², with tightness ≥ 0.70 g/cm³ and air permeability held ≤ 2 µm/Pa·s — a tight, closed sheet is what makes the barrier work.
⚠️ Regulation is moving on fluorochemicals in food contact, market by market. If you are shipping into a market that restricts them, ask for the fluorine-free grade and test it against your own food — the two are not drop-in equivalents.
